Perio - “What to Expect After Periodontal Surgery”
- Avoid eating berried fruits, nuts and sharp foods such as chips, pizza crusts, or anything that could potentially become trapped in the grafted area or cut through stitches
- Avoid biting directly into anything, especially fruits and sandwiches. Cut foods into smaller pieces and chew on the opposite side from the surgery site
- Some swelling is to be expected. This is a normal occurrence and is due to the fluid accumulation in the surgical site.
Do’s and Don’ts
- Do leave the site alone
- Don’t spit
- Don’t suck on candies or through a straw
